Brumi Lestari, the ‘Responsible Production’ category winner of the BIBD Sustainability Youth Leadership Awards, offers a food waste reporting service targeting pre-consumer waste.

Using IoT, they collect data through a smart scale and app to identify waste sources, providing businesses with insights to reduce supply loss.

The youth group also aligned with the titah of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa‘adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam for increased youth involvement in environmental sustainability, as expressed during the recent celebration of the 19th National Youth Day.

Launched in 2023, the BIBD Sustainability Youth Leadership Awards honors young Bruneians driving sustainable change. The awards aim to inspire the next generation to address pressing challenges, in alignment with Brunei Vision 2035 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).

The awards is a collaborative effort involving the SDG Unit of Wawasan Office under the Prime Minister’s Office @sdg_brunei , the Youth Department of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports @kkbs_brunei, Green Brunei @greenbrunei, and the Brunei Youth Council @majlisbeliabn

This strong public-private partnership underscores BIBD’s commitment as Partner in Progress to working closely with government agencies and other stakeholders to create a supportive ecosystem for youth development and sustainability adaptation and adoption.
